What Number Day Of The Year Is It Today?

The current year, 2020, is a leap year, which means it has 366 days, while a normal year has only 365 days. There is one additional day in the month of February!

A leap year comes every four years. Before 2020, the previous leap year was 2016 which started on Friday, 1st January. Today is the 265th day of the year out of the 366 days of the current year. This is known as the “Day Number” , which indicates the current day of the year (today’s day’). Day of the year or DOY is between the first day of the year and the total number of days in that year, may it be a normal year or a leap year with 366 days.

The remaining days of the year 2020 are 101, which is almost the last quarter of the year. Some informational collections determine dates using only the year and day of year instead of the year, month, and day of month. The day of year (DOY) is the successive day number beginning with day 1 on January first.

According to the international standards, ISO 8601 ((International Organization for Standardization), the date format is written as 2020-09-21 (YYYY-MM-DD) while the day name is Monday.

Moreover, there is another less used configuration system called the “ISO day of the year” numbers.
