Image
During times like these, it’s important to keep an eye out for the most vulnerable among us, and in the case of the coronavirus pandemic, that means older adults who are at a higher risk of developing serious complications from COVID-19. Whether they’re our grandparents, friends, or neighbors, we all probably have an older adult in our lives who could use a little help right now. Here are 8 ways to step up for them during the pandemic. 1. Minimize your risk. Keeping your loved ones safe starts with keeping yourself safe. Remember that the virus can spread even while a person shows no symptoms of infection, so the best way to prevent risk to your older loved ones is to avoid physical contact with them if possible. Grandparents are always special whether we are thirty years old or just three. They entertain us with their tales full of wisdom (or sometimes inappropriate humor), fancy cartoon stories, become the elephant for our kiddish elephant rides (provided we’re not too heavy), take us to fantastic places our parents won’t allow us to go to, tolerate our tantrums and best of all they stand with us when our parents scold us. Yes! Grandparents are the reason we feel so loved and pampered. The constant nurturers of our childhood and future; grandparents are the people who always play with us like a child. After all that they do for us, it is indeed impossible to give back anything of any value that may requite the love and blessing they shower upon us. But with gifts, a little gesture of love is proclaimed and it doesn’t go in vain.  And Grandmas are especially our favorite because they instill in us the right balance of naughtiness and goodness to teach us the value of not taking life too seriou

What I Learned By Laughing With My Grandma

Image
When I was young chap my grandma, now 94 years of age, taught me how treat others. She did not do so by telling me what was right or wrong, but rather by observing how she interacted with people of all ages. She would speak to and carry on with individuals the same way no matter what their age happened to be. Best of all she would make people laugh either along with her, or at something funny she had done. She utilized that laughter in almost all situations in her life. Of course, when things went well it came easy for her but when things were not so great she would still use it as well. It aided her in keep on going and moving forward. When I looked at her care for my grandpa for over two years in their house, when he was in his last stage of cancer, every single day she would make him laugh. She never treated him as if he was sick. She took good care of every need he possessed, but she did it in a nice way that maintained his dignity, in a way that made him feel as if although he cou

When her daughter and son-in-law told her and her husband a few months prior concerning the intended birth, Ms. Nadel states that she was totally unprepared to be a grandmother. She didn’t know why, but she always pictured a person who resembles Auntie Em from the Wizard of Oz, as what a grandma ought to look like. Her grandmother did
